Thanks for the thumbs up...I did respond this morning but still haven't seen
my post though it is not 4.40pm! Wonders of instant communication, whot-ho?
Personally, I wouldn't wait till the next version. Reason is, there's no
hard date set for the release though rumour goes it might be released in the
fourth quarter of 2003.
However, the exam is not usually available for another 6 months after the
release date although it caught me on the hop last time around because they
released it some 4 months after the release of Photoshop 7. I had to get my
skates on to update the Photoshop 6 ACE Exam Aid to version 7. So, you could
be looking at January-March 2004 before you can qualify as a Photoshop 8
ACE.
Then also, if they decide to release Photoshop 7.5 and not 8, there won't be
an exam (Photoshop 7 was to all intents and purposes version 6.5 though I'm
glad it was released as version 7 because it gave me the chance to update my
exam aid!). <G>
The other thing to bear in mind is if you have passed the exam once, next
time around you can qualify for a discount. You have to mention RETEST when
booking. You cannot claim it in retrospect. So it does become a wee-bit
cheaper. But if you have passed the exam, you should be in a good position
to attract a higher salary or prospective clients and offset any cost. I
paid for mine within about a month when a fellow list member (another list)
asked me to do some work for him. In fact, he still comes back to me for
Photoshop work and I did another small job for him just last week.
