I just bought a Canon 10D and its a fine camera. Canon have definitely
sussed this CMOS business.

This camera has the capability of exporting RAW files in a "linear" format
which apparently retains a higher contrast range, particularly in the
highlights. I don't know if this is also available on the 1Ds or other Canon
cameras.

However, I haven't worked out the best way to tweak the resulting very dark
file. Has anyone else got a good recommendation for the workflow for
handling files like these? I have tried curves and levels in Photoshop but
the results have not been terribly inspiring so far.
