It actualy is a digital question since some have complained that older

I suspect that could be said of a lot of flash manufacturers 'older' equipment with a lot of manufacturers now putting 'Digital' over everything. Hopefully not a problem as I would be buying new. I imagine problems with older units being inconsistent output, shot to shot , a problem for multi shot backs. Interestingly, I have a 10 year brochure for some Profoto Acute packs and even back then they mention in the blurb 'camera protecting low voltage synchronization'. I don't remember this being an issue back in film days but it can be a problem for digital.
Many people love ProFoto, many people hate it. Perhaps you should look for a
list or forum and get more user's feedback before shopping.
That's exactly why I posted here, for some feedback. I also posted a similar question over on Rob Galbraith forums. In both cases the comments about Profoto have been unanimously positive.
If you
alread have Elinchrome accesories, then you are well off, since all you need
to buy is the adaptor ring for each light to receive the Elinchrome things.
I do use Elinchrom, so that great to know, thanks.
And if you make up your mind, then check the Used Section of B&H.
Yes, I have been alerted to their S/H section.
Thanks for your thoughts Jorge and thanks again to all who responded off list.
