Printing pure black & white appears to be fairly easy. Sorry if that sounds
a little cocky, but printing anything without a custom profile, is IMHO
madness. Printing B&W without one must be nigh on impossible. With one, its
sooooo easy. 

Please, please, please people, get your printers custom profiled  :-)

Perhaps as an intro to joining this list, people could be simply informed
that they need to profile monitor, scanner, printer before joining it would
sure save a lot of grief. Far too many people get into digital thinking its
cheap and easy. Its not, it only appears that way. It can become easy, but
only after a little learning and a little expenditure on profiles etc.
