Hi

A fine aspiration, but (imho) I think it misses the point that colour
management is not always something people easily get to grips with. Just
informing them to go away until they have learnt a certain minimum level of
expertise is not a feeling I'd share. Sure, have a FAQ and point members to
it, but remember that none of us were born with the knowledge :-)) :-))

It may be a slight annoyance to some when the questions get asked, but I for
one will often offer information off list. I get a lot of useful information
from lists like this, and like to give as well as take.

The original post mentioned that the B/W requirements were only for a few
prints - not necessarily worth profiling for.

There is considerable interest in printer profiling and many more would go
the full custom route if they saw the results. I have been pleasantly
surprised by the level of interest that my review of ColorVision's PrintFIX
DIY profiling system <http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/printfix1.html> has
generated (sufficient for my web host to mutter about bandwidth usage :-))

bye for now
