In my new digital set up, the one area that seems unacceptably slow is copying data directly from the CF card to the hard disk. My Transcend card reader is USB and while the images appear immediately when connected, it can take around 6 minutes whether on PC laptop or G4 Mac tower to copy 512MB to the hard disk.
My laptop has USB 2 but no firewire, however, I can purchase a 3 port non powered PCMCIA adaptor for �29.00. Does anybody know whether or not a firewire or USB 2 card reader will substantially speed up the time necessary to copy files from the card to hard disk?
