Hello list
Any advice, suggestions on this would be gratefully received, probably off-list. Excuse my lack of knowledge in this area, it's entirely new to me ...
I had the opportunity to shoot about 3.5 hours of some very interesting stuff on DV which I wish to use for an exhibition that I'll have in 5 weeks time. Although I've not done any video editing before I've been told that it isn't too difficult to do basic stuff using iMovies on a Mac, and maybe a few things using Final Cut Pro later if I really need to. I wish to show the work as three 20 minute pieces simultaneously on 3 screens (perhaps with no sound). Editing each piece should be quite straight forward I hope as it's sequential linear stuff (just need to chop parts out).
I am been loaned a 42" plasma screen for the show and I wish to show all 3 pieces on this at the same time. I can't find anyone here in Stockholm (where I'm having the show) who can tell me how to stick all 3 edited pieces together to display them on the single screen. What software do I need to do this? Is it fairly easy to do it or will I stumble along getting into all sorts of difficulties? I assume I can do the basic stuff using iMovies and then bring the 3 pieces together in some other software and record the whole thing into 1 single piece ...
(technically I'm not a novice in all areas, but I am here! I'm fine with lots of software, such as Photoshop which I use daily; I've recently started shooting digitally; I hope I'll be able to cope with all this in such a short time)
Any thoughts ...
Yikes, I'm getting a bit worried now! Tariq
