I wasn't criticising your calculation but the one you quoted posed a different question. See below. If the price paid is �514.99 the actual price is �438.29 plus VAT at �76.70. You are calculating VAT on the mistaken price of �424.86. Unless of course VAT went up to 21% while I wasn't looking;-)

The 514.99 included vat from jessops so that would be �424.86+vat so that would be the same price.
