Dear Dick. You have supplied lots of great info and advise to may of us in
this forum, but this one above is something to totally disagree, just like
those old times when agencies were asking for 4x5 transparencies because
thery were unbeatable against medium format, just to find out yuor image
would barely go in a full page magazine ad or even smaller, and then you
discover thta you could have shot on MF very easily and efficiently.

Actually the statement that this AGency is going to test new software
etc, etc, just prove they are doing nothing, but requesting the easy way out
to load the photographer with more pressure than really needed.

the D60, the S2 and the 10D will easily supply 25, 28 or 32 Mb files and up
to 50 Mb via interpolation undr a well devised and professional processing
methods, and no one could ever question the "interpolated" nature of the
file if the printing result is just outstanding,as it turns to be if you
planned to do it like that.

I will accept that there is risk in dealing with a les than perfect file in
6MP cameras , and those will questionably reach 30Mb status in good shape.
It all depends on the shooting , subject matter and care each photographer
uses in his/her work.

No doubt the eyelike is and will be unbeatable in terms of quality if
comparing against a 35 DSLR,and your 11 MP will be "better" than the same
11MP from the Canon 1Ds, but many jobs will not let you use the Eyelike and
the corresponding paraphernalia, so 35mm bodies will eventually do those
jobs.

THe more printed results I get to se from my D60, the more surprised I bcome
of the fine quality tah can come out of those toys, so they are actually no
toys.

So, Amanda, I would no doubt send a couple of files in a CD for Agency
evaluation, and find out what is their analysis, specially if they are
asking for 25 or 28 Mb files and you are starting with a 18Mb file, so
interpolation levels are VERY smal indeed. If you are working in 16bits when
performing the upsizing, I invite just anyone to try to show and demostrate
if he /she can prove there is interpolation involved in any such file.

If you contact Alfonso in Age Fotostock in Spain you will be surprised at
how he confirms to photographers in the StockPhoto list that he has accepted
and sells files from Nikon Coolpix cameras and up.It all depends on subject
matter, your type of clients, your type of work, etc, etc, etc.

Of course any Agency is in its own rigt to set their policies, but if there
is ignorance involved in the setting of those policies, it's their problem,
It is not ours. Other Agency was some months ago urging photographers to use
cameras supplying 100Mb files. and nothing else would be accepted!! They
have solved their ignorance status and adjusted the terms recently. It will
keep happening.

   All the best.
