It is because at ATA 66 or ATA 100 bus in the mac only recognizes 
drives up to 128GB.  You cannot partition it on the MAc becasue the 
drive programs will not recognize the rest of the disk to partition it.

You have 2 options...install an ATA 133 card and connect internally to 
the drive OR
purchase an inexpensive firewire case  (as cheap as $35.oo US) and 
install the drive in the case and use as firewire external.  It will 
see all of the disk.
