I forgot to mention.

I'm using a Canon EOS 10d and Mac OSX. As far as I'm aware, there is no
software available that will deal with RAW images in a "nice" way.

Adobe RAW does not yet support the 10d, though it is promised. (or has this
changed)

Capture One supports the 10d but is not available on the Mac (again, does
anyone know if this has changed, their site is not very informative, you
have to search hard to find any mention of which platform it runs on).

So shooting RAW in my case, is not only inconvenient for other reasons, but
extremely taxing due to software limitations. Yet again in the modern
digital world, it would appear if you have the latest toys, you have to wait
for everyone else to catch up and support them :-)
