> Ok, so how well does a monitor display cmyk data? The monitor needs RGB data, this is derived from the CMYK values by a series of mappings and transformations. Some CMYK values may lay outside of the range of colours displayable by the CRT and are mapped as best as can to fit (there are various ways).
There are many variables in the mapping, before you even get to the fact that the CMYK values are likely to end up as ink densities on a material with its own particular characteristics... The whole subject is complex enough that there are people who earn a living from trying to explain it :-)) :-)) The real answer is 'it depends...' If you really want to get into all the messy details I'd recommend the book 'Real World Color Management' by Bruce Fraser, Fred Bunting and Chris Murphy. Not the lightest of reads, but well worth the effort (You'll also find out then, how many people really don't get it at all :-)) bye for now Keith Cooper =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
