Apologies in advance Mom if this is deviating from the topic but Norman's posting reminded me of a salutary tale which indicates how vulnerable we digital users may be using expensive equipment in public places and the help we can expect from Law Enforcement in the event of something going wrong... My friend Johnny was shooting some architectural work in progress shots on his Nikon D1x. He was spotted by a couple of less than honest gentlemen who made it clear that they intended to relieve him of said camera. Fortunately Johnny had no other gear with him and chose the simple option...he legged it with muggers in pursuit. Turning a corner he spotted two mounted police officers and made towards them at which point the muggers melted into thin air. Before he had chance to explain what had happened one officer leaned down from his trusty steed and asked in suspicious tones: "That's a nice camera Sonny...where d'you get that from then eh?" Recovering his breath Johnny explained the situation...namely that he was the lawful owner of the camera and was going about his lawful business as a photographer during which he had almost been robbed. The officer looked round and, unable to see the muggers in question, asked how much such a camera was worth. "About 5000 officer." Johnny stated. "Well what the hell do you expect." came the helpful reply.
