Yes at least 2 batteries. I shoot with a Canon 10D and get 100 pictures per card(640MB) so you would get about 50 pictures with your 1Ds on a similar sized card. The car battery adapter is a must.

One accessory I'm considering is an AA battery adapter, it holds 8 AA batteries and plugs into the digital wallet. This adapter would probably be a must for you considering the file sizes of the 1Ds.
