When Joe Andrews used to share a darkroom with another photographer 
and me, long, long before Joe's Basement was ever thought of, he 
sometimes used Maxwell House coffee if we were in a hurry... it 
didn't smell so bad as sepia toner either.

Mind you, I don't know how the current digital inks or pigments, or 
the papers, would take to being immersed in a caffeine enriched brew!
