Hi Ron I'd always go the route of solid state memory, I've managed to abuse it in a myriad of ways and its come back for more, well, lets just say its continued to work! Microdrives have always just seemed too delicate - using it in a D1X I've had to regularly use needle nose pliers to grip a corner to remove it (which is secured with a screw) as it's the most rigid part - it's a very snug fit. Lots of people get along with them fine but I'm happier paying slightly more per MB for something a bit more industrially rated! Four gig micro drives are coming out with faster write speeds as well, Autumn this year I believe so its likely you'll see some price shifting around then. Also worth noting - the device uses 'air' to float the heads, a rarified atmosphere will become a problem, only relevant if you're a mountaineer or something like that I guess but if the air isn't dense enough to maintain the distance from the media, you'll lose data.
1gig or 2 512mb? I'm not a gambling man so I'd go for the 2 basket option. Alex > Which was the best way to go - compact > flash card or microdrive? Also, if compact flash is best route, should I get one 1GB > card or two 512Mb cards? =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
