I have used FlipAlbum Pro to great effect. http://www.flipalbum.com/product/order.php?#pro It does all the things mentioned so far, self starting, run from CD albums. Can also encrypt the images on a CD, expire use of the CD after a given time etc. At it's simplest it is fairly easy to use - drag and drop - but can be modified (takes ps files as page backdrops etc.). Also nice (in the pro version) is the (your) commercial use rights - whereas most album software prohibits commercial distribution of the use of the image browser. You can also create DVD based albums - but that is not for the faint hearted, and the functionality of a DVD product is much reduced (although there are advantages too)....
