Title: quick low res scanning/ & alcatel
Dear List,
I've subscribed to the forum for a while but not yet contributed. I'm still shooting film but scan when neccessary - London based people/portraiture, stock & ... weddings (needs must).
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good film scanner - to buy or hire [if 50 rolls possible during a weekend hire] - to scan a large amount of 35mm colour neg film - something that I can feed 6 frame strips of film at a time at a reasonable pace to give a good quality low resolution [ full screen 72 dpi] as a quickly accessible digital archive. Would the Nikon coolscan 4000 be able to do this? I've tried a my own home built contraption to keep film flat on my now clapped out Heidelberg Linoscan 1200 flatbed at max resolution [600dpi] which works to a degree but I still get streaks - newspaper and windowlene on glass helped reduce streaks but not entirely.
I'm using a G4/ 400 with OS 9.2 [USB & firewire]
- while not directly related to Digital Imaging, does anyone have problems using the Alcatel Speedtouch 'stingray' USB modem? I'm using it through a powered hub- after I use the printer [Epson 1270] the connection is rendered useless [95% of the time] and while remote access appears to be active, it is 'without transport' as the Claranet Mac man put it - the only known cure is a restart, or getting a router. I have the latest alcatel driver - is there anyway round this problem using my existing set up? Perhaps some clever extensions tweaking?
Thanks in advance
Jeremy
