y lap-top has gasped it's last breath and wont power up. I am not so worried about the lap-top per se but I need to get all the data off of it. Can anyone recommend a place/repair shop that could be able to help, preferably in London (or relatively close to London).
Many thanks in advance Dear James, If its died, why not try taking the hard drive out, then change to master or slave. I'm sure laptops are the same ide cable as desktops. Then download the data from the drive. It will work if it's a simple disk ntfs or fat 32 but not if its formated as a dynamic disk, If it was you will need to get the this software in order to acess the volumes http://www.r-tt.com/ R studio.
