Just to comply with list introduction rules, my name is John Parker and I am
a London based editorial photographer specialising in architecture, art and
history based subject matter. I also run my own small commercial photo
library.

Although I am still using film, I bought an Imacon Flextight Photo scanner
from Leeds Photovisual in London approx 18 months ago. After five months of
limited use the scanner started making loud clicking noises when I fed the
flexible film holders into the machine and the resulting scan produced
either an even grey or a coloured grain effect.

Leeds loaned me a replacement scanner while mine was repaired ( it took
three months ) but now exactly the same problem has recurred and I am
presently working on a large book project where I really need the scanner.

Have any of the list Imacon owners had similar problems? I seem to remember
someone mentioning this as a problem associated with a batch of Flextights
just after I bought mine. I am loathe to agree to a further repair if the
fault is likely to keep recurring. After a second recurrence of the same
problem I think I should be asking for a new replacement.

Any advice / comments gratefully received.

Many thanks
John Parker
