Hi Bob.

Are you by any chance related to the same Bob Croxford with whom I had
many a debate about the quality of digital images , especially about
resolution ? :-) . I think we should be told !

Seriously though. If you think that the 1ds produces better quality than
10x8 film , then imagine the quality achieved with a much larger chip
, dedicated digital lenses and selective focus ( can use wider apertures
for required depth of field and thus sharper images, true perspective
correction etc etc).

The more things change , the more they stay the same.

As I said , so many times before , the Canon is a fine camera, and you
can put it into a small bag and carry it easily up a mountain etc etc.
But for many advertising shoots , it just doesn't do tthe business in the
same way as a back with movement , multishot , digital lenses and
cooling. And that's one of the harsh realities.

BTW I've had the chance to run the 1ds against the 54 , cos we were
looking to buy one ,and may still do so. So the above is based on
observation , not opinion.

Regards,

Bob (Marchant).
