Doesn't the 1Ds have an option to turn off sharpening? IAC, RAW files should
not be sharpened. I thought the whole idea of having a RAW file was it was
just that, RAW. No camera settings applied.

Try the test again but don't use any sharpening in the RAW converter,
convert it to CMYK and see what results you get.

Not a Sinar user or a 10Ds user so can't compare...I have a sneaking feeling
what you are seeing are artefacts caused by contrast and color aberration.
