Alex, I am a digital portrait photographer and have just bought two Esprit 500s largely because I wanted a fast recycling time (turned down to half power they are ready within a second so no more missed shots!!) and pricise colur accuracy is not vital to me (see below).
I find them fantastic. Beautiful colour and oh so fast! I did not buy the DX series largely because the recycling time was longer. Previously I used my faithful Prolites. Whilst the colour temp of those old lights had drifted off, it has never been an issue for me. They were just getting too slow (2-2.5 seconds recycle).
