If you just want to see what the spread will look like, rather than produce finished artwork for the printer, you could do it all in Photoshop. Copy all the photos as layers onto a blank photoshop document of the appropriate size, then resize using edit>transform>scale, dragging the corners rather than entering numbers. Or is that what you've already tried and found frustrating?
