From: Mark Johann Subject: Re: [PRODIG] Camera RAW/Photoshop CS

Upon reading the manual (should have started there before posting), I think
I understand about fine tuning the image and saving it as the camera
default. However, can't figure out how to apply that setting to all the
images within the Browser without opening them all up one by one, so they
all reflect the correction.

If you wish to apply batch corrections, you need to make a single ACR correction as an update and then apply the custom setting to selected images in the File Browser. Here is how it works:

Take the first image and open via the file browser in Photoshop CS. Make adjustments as necessary (note that in the lens tab settings you can correct for colour fringing aberrations). You can open the image if you like, but if you hold down the Option/Alt key the OK button changes to say "Update". This will save the ACR settings to apply as the default the next time the image is opened. It will also influence the appearance of the thumbnail and preview in the browser.

Now make a multiple selection of images. Go to the Automate menu in the File Browser and select: Apply Camera Raw Settings. The following dialog will allow you to apply the same settings to update all selected files and you can do so based on first selected image or in fact, any previous conversion setting. You can be selective. Suppose you only want to load the lens and calibration components because it would be a hassle to have to adjust the color calibration and color fringing on every image, but you may want to preserve different white balance settings and exposures. You can do so using the advanced mode in the dialog. Give it a try.
