Hi Stephen, and all on this thread... Plumbing the depths of my memory, Epson Archival Matte was I recall 'designed' for pigment inks; 'Heavyweight Matte' was the broadly equivalent dye ink paper. I think that Epson had to reduce longevity expectations for their dye inks on EAM, from something like 20 years on HM, to something like 10 on EAM. Lyson longevity stats on their site suggest a better expectation than this with Fotonic inks on a 4-colour printer. Rumour has it that EAM was renamed 'Epson Enhanced Matte' in the US at least, possibly due to the legal implications of selling something with 'Archival' in the name. As I recall, one driver update for Dye ink printers removed EAM from the Media list available in the printer driver (I'm sure it was there before). Rumour also has it that the base is not acid-free and does not handle well in accelerarted fade tests. On the whole, I don't like to peddle rumours and hearsay 9and anyway, these observations may not hold true for Lyson inks on these papers), but maybe in this case it is worth bringing to your attention? Not an issue if you just use it for a proofing paper...
