Head against a brick wall is a term that comes to mind Richard. Margaret Thatcher, when Prime Minister started the ball rolling in order to pass laws to make charging interest on late payers into the statute books, sadly it never came to pass. As I understand the situation,If you have not set out the contract details before accepting the work you are powerless to do anything. If your invoice stated payment within 20 days and its unpaid after that time you can issue a summons to recover the money plus expenses in doing so plus interest,. We all get this thrown at us and I have to s Ive had to take similar action in the past but try to let my suppliers know beforehand so that they are aware of the problem. If you can stand losing the client just wait till the next job ,invoice out at 15% higher than normal then offer 10% discount for payment by a specific date. They may just fit in with your wishes.
