Sorry, shouldn't have replied when I was half asleep. I am sure you CAN install the same copy of Panther, even on a network. There isn't a serial number, either. I think it would be counterproductive (and therefore unlikely) for Apple to come after single users who install the same copy of Panther twice. They'd be right to take a different view for a larger company.

And as has recently been explained to me, if you clone your desktop system and files onto an external HD, you can plug that into any Mac. So Panther and a single copy of Photoshop CS can be used on whichever machine you plug it in to. Presumably legally.
