Hi Many thanks to all the people who mailed and called after my 1Ds price query.
A large cardboard box has just been delivered :-)) I tried Fixation in London (4800+VAT + free spare battery) but they were out of stock. I received a call from Calumet (Brenda Lally, 0207 380 4514 --what a large readership this list has ;-) and they went away and matched Fixation's offer. Even Jessops on New Oxford St (right near where I'm working) were eventually prepared to match the Fixation offer, but by the time they had got round to it, I'd parted with the dosh elsewhere. I'm making use of the battery charging time to read some of the manual! There is obviously some (very favourable) conspiracy afoot since I've just been asked to do a few weeks similar work early next year - so I may be asking for a good source for an Epson 9600 before long...
