Any indication about it would be a great help. If you thing that the any of the default curves of captureshop could be appropriate or any other suggestion.
According to Wagner at Silicon Imaging, the truest curve is the linear curve with the black and white points pulled slightly towards the centre. All the others are to add a bit of punch and make a picture more like the way we've come to expect it to look on film ( - at least that's my simplified understanding of what he said!)
It's a shame Sinar don't include a "true" curve in their Standard Curve set. Since the colour calibration process involves shooting a known target (Macbeth 240 patch) you'd think it'd be possible to produce a file/curve where the readable values of the patches on screen correspond to their actual values on the chart.
How they came to produce the 3 "standard" curves and for what purposes is, I confess, a mystery.
