That leads me to believe that it was a disk error upon saving.
Which file format was it saved as?
It is an RGB file saved as a tiff.
A couple of more questions... what type of storage device were the
images saved on? A standard computer hard drive? Whichever device
it is, I would recommend running standard drive diagnostics to see
if there is something physically wrong with the drive. It is a
remote possibility, but it never hurts to check.
The image was saved on a standard computer hard drive. I have two drives, and the image in question was on the start-up drive. This, according to the disc utility is checked and verified on start-up. I just checked the second drive, my normal storage device, and this was fine. Should I verify with the start up CD or run FSCK-Y?
I've had black lines appearing on a few application icon aliases I keep on the desk top recently (usually 3 or 4 lines ). But it only happens to a few, usually to Optical. Could these be related? John Blythe has reported this problem too.
