This was discussed a while back and I did some simple tests with lens
chart type line pair grids. I discovered that the Epson claim that
180ppi is the optimum is basically correct BUT a file at 360 ppi does
resolve a series of 1 pixel lines - I needed a lupe to see them and
considered the 180 ppi file as good for my eyesight when printed with an
Epson 1290 on Epson semigloss photo paper. Why not try some simple tests
yourself and let us know your findings?
