I have been watching this thread, and would like to point out that I do have a PDF describing a method of embedding an embossed copyright symbol into images. Now whether this is actually what is sought in this instance I am less sure as the thread has proceeded. But the principle I adopt involves making a custom shape and using this to create a vector shape that can be sized as a percentage proportion of the file it is embossing.
The beauty of this method is that you can create an action, a batch action or a droplet once the custom shape has been created and is present in the Preset for Custom Shapes. Creating the custom shape can be from a font within Photoshop or from Illustrator. Once a file is embossed in the manner I use, it is difficult to remove, but is sufficiently subtle to not destroy the image - far better than a coloured flat image overlaid.
