That bit was my postulation, not his, but I stand by it, as it is still part
of the image forming process. Imagine an algorithm that interpolates from a
10x10 area as opposed to 5x5 or 3x3, it must affect the systems (as a whole)
point spread function (therefore resolution, hence acceptable C of C).
 
I am, of course, totally willing to be told I'm wrong as it's not something
I've read in a book (not that that would necessarily make it right of
course!)
