Interestingly someone else (on the dpreview site) has calculated that a 1Ds with a similar sensor to the new 1D II would be 12.8 megapixel.
Others have stated that at 1Ds is adequate in resolution due to the limitations of current Canon lenses. There is at least one person who has gained advantage by attaching some nice Contax glass to the 1Ds with an adapter. I note that on the MF digital backs the sensor size is now creeping up as the pixel count goes up. The high end backs now have roughly 4x5cm chips rather than the 35mm sensors of recent times. Perhaps this is in part to better use current lens technology? I guess that even if the 1Ds II is better (maybe better noise at higher ISO, bit more resolution), there will be no doubt that the 1Ds will remain near the top of the DSLR tree for a while. I'd be interested in hearing an experts views on these meanderings. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Paul Freeman Sent: 01 February 2004 17:34 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Amanda, it already happened I think. I'm also interested now. =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
