Michael,

This may or may not help.... you will have to read from the bottom....you
will also get an idea of the need for reading lessons within Nikon :o)

Flash set up

You will not get TTL unless you use DX rated guns I'm afraid. some wireless
systems are fooled as digital cameras use monitor pre flash to meter. These
are rapid flashes mostly faster than the eye can see just before picture
taking. This may trigger slave cells prior to the actual shooting of the
image unless you have a delay function on the gun. Personally I have found
using a wired system and a bit of trial & error in manual mode will produce
the best & easiest to reproduce results.

Would wireless help, using the SB80 as master and the SB28 as slave work?
Or, do I need another DX flash?
Sorry this is protracted, but, I need to use TWO guns, both tripod mounted,
a D100 and have TTL, what do I need? Wired or wireless don't care, just the
cheapest option.

I'm sorry but if you have an SB28 not an SB28DX you will not be able to
obtain TTL metering with a digital SLR. In this case I would suggest a
manual setup, or use the SB80 as a stand alone flash gun off camera with the
SC-17 cable.
An AS 10 will give you a hotshoe connection when put on the end of an SC-18
or SC-19 3 pin sync cable. This will aid physical connection but not provide
the electronic circuitry required to give TTL with a digital SLR I'm afraid.
Both the AS10 & SC17 have tripod screw threads so yes for physical mounting
this will be acceptable. Apologies if I missed this from your previous mail.

I do not have a SB28DX ( "I have a D100, SB28 and SB80").
I believe there is such a thing as an AS-10?.
So, would this work?: SC17 from camera to flash unit 1. Then flash unit 2
connected by SC18 (or 19) from SC17 to AS10(upon which flash 2 is mounted).
Don't forget I need TTL metering!
I also asked how BOTH flash units could be mounted on a tripod. I understand
that SC17 and AS10 both have tripod bushes, can you confirm please.

If you have the SB28DX this should not be a problem. To mount one gun off
camera, use the SC 17 hotshoe extension cable. You can then use standard 3
pin sync cables (SC-18 or 19) from gun or SC-17 to the other gun.

I have a D100, SB28 and SB80. I wish to use both flash units off camera for
still life shooting and maintain TTL metering. What cables etc do I need. I
also need to mount both flash units on tripods.

Imp having no luck finding info on the Nikon SB-800 and its suitability for
use with the
Kodak 14n.Is anyone using one of these and if so how does it perform ? Im
particularly
interested in its ability for wireless triggering and control of slave flash
guns .
