I will be moving all my computer kit into my old darkroom when Ive finished redecorating
etc.
Im painting the whole room grey and think that some form of uplighters will be best.
Do any of you have knowledge of a source of fitting and lamps suitable here in the UK ?.
I know lighting has been discussed in terms of colour but I would appreciate help on
specific model numbers and / or suppliers.
Dear Michael
I suggest you do a search for graphiclite...you will find their UK office details and details of the tubes etc.....BTW Neil Barstow is now acting as an agent for them I believe.
As for how to direct the light, I would strongly suggest that you maintain the ambient lighting in the area of your screens at a low lux level . Aim for less than 64 lux, and preferably below 32 lux.... I run at about 28. This is very comfortable but you will want much higher for other areas. Include a proofing viewing booth as well.
I have found a good method of work bench lighting is to use very deep light reflector panels (you will have to make these to suit) fixed to the ceiling to keep the light just to where it is needed. Throwing light at the ceiling will not give the best results I believe, and will just be wasting light and not controlling it to where it is required.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
