In my opinion a lot depends on what sort of work you do.
I am a social/wedding/portrait photographer, fully digital for 4 years. I have Olympus E10 s, and Olympus E1, 6x128Mb Compact Flash memory cards and 4x256Mb cards, a PC with 40Gig drive, 1.5 Mb RAM, Cd drive, card reader,CTX monitor and a Epson 1290 printer for art pictures. I download, edit and retouch myself, then send the images to the lab via broadband. Collect photos two days later. The way it is running at the moment I dont have to colour adujust. The lab prints cheaper than my Epson.
So, you see my needs are very small.
