Dear List

I have been using a Flextight 646 for about one year, one problem, (strange lines on some scans) was sorted very quickly by the dealer,(Studio Workshop), who brought in an 848 the same day I called , whilst they checked mine and upgraded the software . The results continue to astound me. For anyone interested, about half of the images in my show, about to go up at the AOP Gallery, were scanned on the Flextight. They are from B+W 35mm negs (Neopan 400 uprated a stop), probably the one of the most difficult tests of any scanner. These were done when it was fresh out the box and I was a complete digital novice. Even these scans compare very well with others produced on a top banana drum scanner by an experienced operator. Since then, I have become more aware of the subtlety and refinement achieveable with this piece of kit, and perhaps more importantly it is beginning to pay for itself. As a final point, a very clever man came to calibrate and profile my workflow a while ago and remarked that the results from the scanner were spot on, as were all the Flextights he had seen.
