I wonder if anyone else is having problems with a MSI DR8-A CD/DVD writer? The unit is installed in a Win2k box with the supplied Nero software. When burning CD's in the basic ISO 9660 mode this is what happens: The write completes successfully and the verification as well. All the images open in another drive on the same box without any problems, but when opened on a G4 Mac OS 9.2 although all the image files are seen and their size too, only some will open and a faulty one totally hangs the computer.
On looking at the CD one very strange thing is evident. The writing appears to miss the first cm of the inside of the CD. Different speeds and different CD's make no difference...anyone want a pile of coasters? Can anyone throw any light on this please? No we have not dared to waste DVD's yet!
The Plextor unit that was previously in this box and operating with Nero (from a different installation disk) never ever gave any problems on any operating system. This unit had to be re-installed this afternoon to make it possible to write the day's CD's ! Never should have bought cheap, however the Hi burn facility was the tempting factor, but I should hasten to add that this was not used on the CD's written to!
Many thanks
