I suppose what I have done is a long winded version of what you suggest
i.e. a
complete clean reinstall of OS before trying each version of the Keyspan
software to ensure there was nothing lurking in there to cause conflicts.

When I installed each version of the Keyspan software (for OS9 or OSX)
I have always been booted into the corresponding OS before installing and
ensured it went into the relevant folder for the OS. Is this what you
mean or do I have to do something more drastic? I'm afraid I'm not up on
all this partitioning business!

10.2.7 (supplied with Mac) & CS 4.1. Yes it is unplugged.

I haven't looked in the apple profiler but it does appear in the start
up connection dialogue box, thats if you mean in the pop up menu next to
the serial port button which now shows the device code followed by 1 & 2,
instead of port 1 & 2..

I have tried every combination known to man, but on my old mac it is set
to Serial>Port 1 which works fine!

Yep tried that! I also tried to install a stand alone version of 9.2.2
but it
wouldn't work on my Mac.
