>During the shooting,at random times, the exposure will drop by about a 1/4 stop
If there is no change to the capture settings (manual exposure, fixed colour balance setting, consistant light source), how could the density change? I too have noticed this. My camera checked out OK at service. I can tell you that the problem is not cable or card related, but a random software bug. Unfortunately, there is no setting that you can change from "vary exposures at random" to "please make my life easier" A similar issue is: The S2 will also make warmer images (on manual exp, daylight balance) when a flash is connected via SCA adaptor than when connected via synch lead. (note: shooting distant scene, not even my Metz will carry to the horizon!) Frustrating to realise that we have to accept that because it is a "computer", it will perform inconsistantly, but I believe your workflow will have to accommodate this.
