I had only tested CR once or twice and had compared the results with the one of C1, for getting the same colours I spend three more time tweaking sliders in CR than in C1, one other think I tested is noise reduction, far better in C1 (used 400 Iso with a 1Ds). In an over all I see C1 more handily correct colours in a faster an efficient way.
You should be aware that the different setting in the colour panel provide different results in C1 (e.g. look at the curves and how different is the exposure setting works compared to the mid-tones curves).
I strongly advertise you to have a look at the Don Lashier web-site before taking your decision:
http://www.lashier.com/home.cfm?dir_cat=20503&gal_col=2
If you are colours and noise concerned you should love C1.
That said, PS CS provides great improvements (mostly 16 bits and the shadows/highlight feature) and he is widely worth the expense.
BTW: Be aware that this command produce some haloes when used on high contrast areas (e.g. a building or a tree facing a blue sky could be seen in the red channel).
Best regards.

so the question is - is Camera Raw as good as Capture 1 in your humble opinions, and what, if any, are the differences between the two?
