Title: Re: [PRODIG] Kodak DCS Pro SLRn thoughts

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience with the new snappily named Kodak DCS Pro SLRn ?

I’ve had one for about 10 days but have hardly used it due to house moving.

However I must say that to its credit the files are in the main very good apart from one very obvious problem which is that narrow boundaries of high contrast (notably tree branches against bright sky) produce a terrible colour fringing which is in my limited testing impossible to correct without resorting to heavy retouching in PS.
I have been in contact with Martin Wood of Kodak who has been most helpful but has now gone off on holiday. I’ve just been too busy to chase up his colleagues.
I’m sure that this problem will be fixed but at this time I’m not able to recommend the camera. From my standpoint unless this issue is fixed very soon I will be seeking to return the unit to Calumet UK.

On the plus side the software is good, camera controls are ok. The only areas I’ve found questionable are the lack of 1/3 stop increments on aperture and the warning against using firewire repeaters ( I think the max firewire lead length is 10 feet) plus the dire warning of plugging the firewire into the computer before plugging in the camera or you fry the camera firewire circuit.

On the whole I like the camera and would prefer to keep the camera.

Kind Regards
