Richard,

Pros

1. with multishots you can use flash (and of course continuous) lighting.
2. with 4 shots you get real colour capture at each pixel point rather than interpolated colour (as you also did with a scan back).
3. with 16 shots you can pretty much eliminate moire and probably match the file size of most scan backs.
4. you only need to buy one back to cover very many eventualities.

Cons

you don't get full frame coverage so probably need to purchase new lenses and if movements are important, possibly a new camera such as the Rollei X,-Act Cambo Ultima and whatever Sinar do which are specifically designed for a smaller capture area. A 5x4 scan back will allow you to continue to use all the functionality of your existing 5 x 4 camera though you may (as discussed in other threads) find the need for new lenses.

But as with all things there is no one perfect solution for all eventualities.

The difference is of course that the majority of those that do have multishot capability will know when and where to use it , and can see the distinct advantage that it has in those circumstances.

Dear Bob

I am interested in hearing what the advantages or disadvantages are of a multishot back over a scan back, apart from the ability to use it for instant capture shooting.
