I personally don't bother with any except a visible watermark... and have been adding IPTC info to all the new images going on the site. At best you will prevent a casual theft from occurring. In the interim you may alienate your legitimate clients that might want to download a file to see how it looks in their layout... or worse, prevent them from seeing the image if javascript is enabled. The one thing that none of these protection schemes will do is prevent a determined thief from taking your intellectual property. I'd suggest proceeding with caution. Perhaps add the coding to a few images that you add and see if there is any reaction from your visitors or clients before recoding your whole site. Also be sure to test on multiple browsers on multiple platforms as these don't all work the same.
