I am having a problem with a batch action, running PS CS and Windows XP.

I have a folder with 12 subfolders, and the last subfolder itself has a
further 24 subfolders, and within all these subfolders are several hundred
jpeg files.

I used file>automate>batch in Photoshop CS to add a type layer to each
image within all the subfolders. I set 'source' in the batch dialogue to
the main top level folder, and 'destination' to 'save and close'. When I
run the action all goes well until it gets to the end of the 9th sub-folder.

The action adds the type layer to all the images in the 9th sub-folder,
saves them successfully, and then Photoshop stalls with the busy icon
displayed on screen. After about 30 seconds Photoshop just vanishes off the
screen. No errors are displayed on screen, nor are any untoward errors
displayed in the error log, other than the usual ones (e.g. cannot recognise
file extension for .db files).

I have tried including open and save commands in the action, as well as
without, but it makes no difference. I can successfully run the batch
action against the 10th and successive sub-folders individually without
problem.

Has anyone come across this problem before, is there a solution, or maybe
I'm doing something wrong?
