I use one to switch between a Windows box and a Mac. The one I have is made by Belkin I think. The only problem I've had is that when switched to the Mac it doesn't always register combinations of keys like it should unless I press the keys more slowly than normal. For instance if I press Command-C to copy something it just registers as C unless I distinctly press the command key, hold and then press C. This may be a function of this particular switching unit. Otherwise, you're right its a great way to relieve desktop clutter and make your work environment nicer if you're a multi-computer user. I typically use this Windows box for some batch processing tasks. I switch to it, start the task and then switch the keyboard monitor back to the Mac for my routine work. People casually looking over my shoulder get really confused to see a nice Windows desktop one minute and OS-X the next on the same monitor.

It appears to be "hot" switchable .
