Hi list,
Has anyone here sucessfully appealed an out-of-warranty repair of
an Apple i-book that has the video-failure/ lock-up/ motherboard
problem? I've just put my i-book in to Apple and now have a 400
bill for a fault that has developed 'inside' the machine during
regular use, therefore outside my insurance company's remit for a
claim.
Apparently it's a common (and controversial) fault that happens
just outside the one-year's warranty period to many i-books. Apple
extended the guarantee to include models and specified certain serial
numbers ...but not mine! There's been a law-suit running in the US
filed by disgruntled users outside the guarantee, but I don't know if
there's a similar one here. The Apple blurb is at

Thanks in advance
Nick
