Try selecting the file and then go to "Get Info". The second item down in the window is "Open with": select TextEdit or some other text editing application in the drop down menu.

Can anyone please help me: running Apple Mac OSX and have got a file with the suffix << .tpl >>>
It was created from a Stickies File when i selected a "Stationery" option and Photoshop was running at the same time.
